Esports World Cup Foundation and global gaming developer MOONTON
Games today announced Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) as the first confirmed
title for the inaugural Esports World Cup in Summer 2024. The multi-year
partnership between the organizations will not only bring one of the leading
mobile esports titles to Esports World Cup, but will also lean on the event's
scale to bring the title to international fans around the world.
“We’re thrilled to welcome MOONTON Games as the first game
developer joining the Esports World Cup with their leading title, Mobile
Legends: Bang Bang” - said Ralf Reichert, CEO, Esports World Cup Foundation.
“With one of the world’s most popular and watched mobile esports participating
in our unique cross-club competition, we’re set to welcome millions of fans to
the Esports World Cup platform - a place of celebration of video games and
gaming culture, where the best players are recognized as competitive and
cultural icons of the world’s fastest-growing sport.”
Esports World Cup will be home to the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang
Mid-Season Cup, and will feature professional esports teams from 14
international regions and over 35 countries vying for the largest-ever prize
pool in the game’s competitive history. The
game occupies multiple spots among the most-watched esports events ever,
including more than 5 million peak concurrent viewers of the M5 World
Championship in December 2023. The multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA)
mobile game is one of the most popular games worldwide, with over 110 million
monthly active users globally and over 1.46 billion installations. The
award-winning esports title is a proven leader in popularizing and
professionalizing mobile esports internationally.
“Esports
World Cup will elevate our presence in bringing Mobile Legends: Bang Bang to
our millions of fans and new audiences, including those watching live in Riyadh
and onscreen around the world,” said Lucas Mao, Managing Director of Global
Esports, MOONTON Games. “We’re excited to be a part of this first-of-its-kind
event this year and in the years to come as we strengthen ties with Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s community in key regions such
as Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East.”
MLBB will be one of multiple competitive titles coming to
Esports World Cup, an eight-week festival celebrating the competitive
excellence of players from around the world, in Summer 2024 in Riyadh. The
first-of-its-kind competition aims to unite the world’s top esports titles and
their players for high-stakes competition – all with the goal of
recognizing the world’s top esports athletes.
